Flatfoot or why the feet hurt

Flattening - a pathological change in the arch of the foot. Transverse flat feet - the lowering of the transverse arch of the foot occurs in approximately 55% of cases, longitudinal - the lowering of the longitudinal arch of the foot, occurs in 30%. The remaining cases are combined deformations.

Flattening can be both congenital and acquired. With the deformation of the foot, one could reconcile, but the pain that arises in the legs and back causes the patient to undergo flatfoot treatment, if such a diagnosis is made. The most accurate diagnostic methods are computer-assisted podometry and radiography. In the first case, the patient becomes on a special site of the device - a sub-meter, according to the force of the foot pressure on the site, the computer program does the calculations. Radiography is done under load (standing) in a straight line and lateral projections.

And in a simple and fast way, plottography can also be used at home: stand up with a creamy foot on a white sheet of paper. The absence of a notch on the print on the entire length of the foot between the heel and the fingers speaks for the flat feet. If left flat feet without treatment, the weak ligaments will lead not only to irreversible changes in the bones of the foot, but also violations in muscles, veins, intolerable pains in the spine.

Conservative treatment of the initial stages of flatfoot in adult patients can give good results: this is primarily therapeutic physical training, massages, orthopedic insoles, pain relief. Traumatologists, orthopedists are engaged in this disease. But in some cases, a doctor can be rendered physiotherapy by the osteopath physician, who, with his hands on the human body, finds a breakdown and corrects it.

If conservative treatment does not give positive results, the patient is recommended an operation. Now, low-traumatic surgical methods for strengthening the foot have been developed and are being effectively applied, after which gypsum and crutches are not required. Almost immediately the patient begins to walk in special shoes.
In newborns, the foot has a flat outline, this is due to the fact that the leg is plump enough and there is practically no physical stress on the foot. At a routine examination in 5-6 years, a traumatologist or pediatric orthopedist can detect abnormalities in the development of the ligaments and bones of the foot. In 97% of cases, the treatment of flat feet in the child in due time leads to recovery and has no consequences, only three percent of congenital foot pathologies can not be treated.

In any disease, prevention is always better than the most wonderful treatment, go barefoot yourself and let's go barefoot to children, especially on the beach or grass. You have planned examinations with children from specialists. Wear comfortable shoes. Evening shoes on high thin stilettos are not designed for wear all day. Alternate the load on the legs during work. Eat right and try to adjust your weight. Avoid injury. Take care of the health of your feet.
