Airport Minsk 1 - the same age as the Belarusian aviation

Minsk 1 Airport was the first and main air haven of the capital of Belarus until 1984. To date, all flights previously carried out from it have been transferred to the national airport (Minsk 2). History

The first civil and international airport Minsk 1 is located within the city limits, very close to the center of the capital. For the first time it began its work in 1933 and at first served only national flights.

The airport area is allocated for the construction of a new, modern residential area and business center "Minsk City", with skyscrapers and high-rise residential areas, which previously was not possible due to the limitation of buildings in height.

It was planned to remove all functioning enterprises from the territory before the end of 2011, however, due to difficulties with financing the project, Minsk City had to be postponed.

To date, Minsk 1 is the oldest airport in the republic and represents a monument not only of urban architecture, but also of the Belarusian aviation.
