Acceleration of the mouse in CS: how to disable?

Any professional player Counter-Strike knows perfectly well that accelerating the mouse prevents normal aiming and can play a cruel joke at the most crucial moment of the fight. You yourself could get into the situation, when the sight for no reason from that begins to spin wildly, and your hero shoots not where necessary.

This statement is true for any version of the popular shooter (1.6, Source, GO). So, if you want to benefit your team, you definitely have to disable the nuisance option. But first, let's try to figure out what acceleration is and why it negatively affects the gameplay.

Purpose of acceleration

Acceleration of the mouse is necessary to control the speed of moving the cursor across the screen. In other words, the faster you move the mouse over the table, the faster the cursor will move. This feature is enabled in Windows by default, so in most cases the average user simply does not pay attention to it.

As for computer games, for many of them, acceleration is even useful. For example, in strategies, you can quickly move the cursor around the screen and control your units in this way. But the situation with the shooters is different.

Imagine that the enemy comes to you from the side and you need to quickly turn to him. At this very moment, acceleration is triggered and your character, instead of aiming at the enemy, begins to spin around its axis. Agree, rather unpleasant situation, which, by the way, is quite often found in Counter-Strike. That's why you have nothing else to do except to disable mouse acceleration, otherwise you will constantly lose.

Disabling Acceleration in Windows

As already mentioned above, the acceleration is initially included in Windows. The developers felt that this way they will increase the convenience for users, but that's why they did not think that it would be uncomfortable to play shooters because of this. Therefore, before disabling the mouse's acceleration in CS: GO (well, or any other version of the game), you need to turn it off in the operating system settings. And for this:

  1. Go to the control panel and in the "View" tab specify the option "Large icons".
  2. Now open the Mouse category and switch to the Index Options section.
  3. Here you need to find the option "Enable advanced pointer precision" and uncheck it (uncheck).
  4. After that, confirm the changes and close the control panel.

That's it, you disabled the mouse's acceleration. At the same time, while working with the operating system, you will not notice a big difference, but it will be much more convenient to play. However, before you start the next battle in CS, you will need to turn off the acceleration also in the game itself, but this will be discussed below.

Acceleration in CS 1.6

Old good Counter-Strike 1.6 is still popular, despite the fact that it was released a long time ago. Strangely enough, in this part of the game, the problem of mouse acceleration causes problems for gamers. KC 1.6, unfortunately, does not abound with the settings, so you need to disable the annoying option by editing the shortcut settings. You can do this as follows:

  1. Click on the shortcut with the right mouse button and go to "Properties".
  2. By default, you should have the "Label" tab. If this is not the case, then you need to manually go to it.
  3. Now pay attention to the line "Object", because it is you who need to edit it. Just add the line "-noforcemaccel -noforcemparms -noforcemspd" (without the quotes) here and save the changes.

You only need to go into the game and make sure that the changes have come into effect. To do this, just run any card, and if done correctly, you will notice the difference in a few minutes.

Acceleration in CS: Source

The developers of Counter-Strike: Source did a great job of making mistakes. Here you and updated graphics, and improved physics, and an expanded arsenal of weapons. In general, igrodely tried to glory and gave fans of shooters really high-quality project.

But still one problem migrated from the previous version of the game. And of course, this is mouse acceleration. CS: Source, like the last part, will not allow you to disable this option in the settings, so here you also have to edit the shortcut. This is done in the same way as in version 1.6.

Here it is necessary to say that the not indifferent gamers have created a number of programs that allow you to disable the acceleration in a few clicks. Their essence lies in the fact that these applications automatically make all the changes and you do not have to do almost anything. Therefore, if you are too lazy to delve into the shortcut settings, you can download one of these programs and solve the problem in this way.

Acceleration in CS: GO

Well, it's time to talk about CS: GO, which has already become a cybersport discipline and bring even more fame to its developers. But here the acceleration of the mouse bores the players here no less than in the previous parts. Fortunately, here the creators finally figured out to add the option to disable this option in the settings. For this:

  1. Start the game and go to the settings.
  2. Go to the "Keyboard / Mouse" tab and scroll down the screen.
  3. Find the line "Accelerate the mouse" and put the switch in the "Off" position.
  4. Confirm the changes made and enjoy a comfortable game.

By the way, despite the fact that you can turn off the acceleration in the settings, sometimes it continues to work. It happens so infrequently, but the problem is serious. So do not forget to turn off the acceleration directly in the operating system, and then in the game. So you will spare yourself an unnecessary headache.

Advice

After the mouse has been accelerated , you will need to adjust the sensitivity as well. This is done in the console of the game, using the "sensitivity X" command, where X is the digit responsible for the speed of the sight. This parameter is unique for each gamer, so do not be too lazy to pick it up for you personally.

In addition, if you are already accustomed to playing with acceleration, you should retrain. Yes, at first it will seem uncomfortable, but by adapting, you will understand how much more accurate the shots became.

Also after turning off the acceleration, it will be a good idea to hold several training matches with your friends and learn to aim at the moving enemy. So you can feel all the changes and see how useful they are.
