Who invented the incandescent bulb, and who introduced it into our life?

Today, the comfort of our life is provided by the abundance of technical means and various household appliances, without which it is already difficult for us to manage. We perceive them on a subconscious level, not thinking about how they work, who was their inventor. Man by nature always strives for more, he sets himself ambitious plans, systematically overcoming all difficulties. Examples of how people, forgetting about adversity, aspired forwards, abound.

However, one should never forget about his past, especially since there are enough examples that can be useful even now. Then there were very different tasks, seemingly simpler and more elementary, but imagine if there was no ordinary light bulb, how would we live now? Probably, we would not think about modern technologies, space flights and powerful computers, but still tried to establish our own life, if we forgot who invented the light bulb.

We used to attribute inventions to specific people, although sometimes the result is the joint work of a large number of people, but, for example, who invented the incandescent bulb that is now in every house?

Light in every house

It is necessary to understand that people could not live without light, therefore they did their best to come up with something to illuminate their homes. In the most ancient times fires, stoves and fireplaces were used, then candles were used. But the use of living fire carries a number of inconveniences and even some danger.

In antiquity, clay vessels were used, filled with olive oil and cotton wicks. Later on, similar lamps were used on the Caspian coast, only petroleum products were used as fuel. By the way, the first wax candles appeared only in the Middle Ages and were considered quite important invention for their time.

Later with the development of science, many scientists began to fight over the solution of this problem. One of them was Leonardo da Vinci, who brought many ideas to science. He, too, can partly be considered as the one who invented the first light bulb. Although it was a kerosene lamp, he simply worked through the ideas. But the problem remained the same - an open fire next to the fuel supply, in fact, made it a bottle with an incendiary mixture.

Incandescent light bulb

As already mentioned above, the invention of a light bulb is a long process of work. In the 19th century, the first prototype of a safe lighting device appeared. It was made by the Russian electrical engineer and scientist Pavel Nikolayevich Yablochkov. It was Yablochkov who invented the light bulb. Also on his account and the first electric candle. His invention had many disadvantages, first of all, a variable light output and a low lifespan. But, nevertheless, they began to be used en masse to illuminate the streets, as well as important sites in Russia: theaters, shops, central squares, etc.

However, it is fair to say that the question of who invented the light bulb, you can not only name one name. After all, the device itself has gone a long way of evolution. In the period from 1840 to 1870 years. Many scientists worked on creating an effective electric lighting device, but there was no result until in 1872 Russian engineer Alexander Lodygin smiled luck. He is the one who invented the incandescent lamp. Already in 1873 on the streets of Petersburg appeared two bulbs Lodygin.

About these achievements knew the American scientist Thomas Edison. He used the experience of Lodygin, and tried to improve it, solving the problem with longevity. He still found the right composition of the carbon filament, which allowed the lamp to burn for several hundred hours. He, too, can be attributed to the inventors of the lamp, although he worked more on improvement, combining the research of various scientists.
